About the role

As a Principal Civil Designer, you’ll take the lead on civil design delivery across a range of projects, from early concept through to detailed construction documentation. You’ll be responsible for producing high‑quality designs, reviewing the work of designers and drafters, and being the first point of contact for design‑related queries.

Day to day, this means balancing your own design workload with coaching others, checking outputs for accuracy and compliance, and working closely with project managers to meet scope, budget and timeframes. You’ll also liaise with clients, councils and other external stakeholders, ensuring documentation is clear, accurate and fit for approval and construction.

You’ll be based in a modern Sunshine Coast office, working closely with project managers, engineers, designers and drafters in a highly collaborative setting. The office is just two blocks from the beach, with cafés and local eateries right on your doorstep and free parking close by. Required experience

• Extensive experience (10+ years’) in civil design, with strong exposure across concept, DA and detailed design stages
• Advanced capability in tools such as AutoCAD, 12d Model, Bluebeam and Microsoft Office
• A solid understanding of civil engineering standards, codes and design procedures
• Confidence reviewing others’ work and providing clear, constructive technical guidance
• Strong time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities without losing quality

Desirable experience

• Experience supervising, coaching or mentoring designers and drafters
• An associate degree in civil engineering or equivalent tertiary qualification
